Learn to Love the P Word…Planning
So I gotta ask, are you a planner or a doer? Were you gifted with the organization gene at birth? (If you were, I am VERY jealous)
For me, ALL the things I need to do to feel like a successful entrepreneur is enough to make MY head spin. Do you agree?
I’ve found a few tricks along the way that HELP me and, who knows, they might even help YOU!!
Eliminate writer’s block with a content creation plan
No more sitting at the computer to write a blog post only to stare at a blank screen with a blinking cursor. Schedule some time in your calendar to plan. Create an outline of your project beforehand that includes your project timeline as well as the topics you plan to discuss. Make sure you are following your content pillars so that you have a good variety of content for your audience.
Daily task list and time blocking
Creating a plan of action or a daily task list always helps keep me organized and focused on the important items. It is so much easier for me to look at my day as a whole, once I've blocked my time, rather than that every growing list in my mind. I also like to make sure that I include the “regular tasks” in my daily list. You know - pick up the kids from school, drink water, fold laundry, all those tasks that you NEVER give yourself credit for. Doing this makes sure you know exactly what has to get done, without questioning if you’ve forgotten something. I also like to separate my tasks into MUST do and SHOULD do, it gives me the opportunity to prioritize my daily tasks.
Make yourself a client
I found that when you schedule YOURSELF as a client you are able to focus on the tasks that need to be done for YOUR business. For example, on Sundays, which I usually designate as a “client work day” for MY business. Doing this makes sure I continue to grow my business so I can continue to serve my clients to the best of my ability. Set your business up for success by making it a priority!
AND if you are STILL struggling, then I recommend...
Outsource your content creation
Hiring a Social Media Content Manager (Jana @loopconsulting) has been the second BEST business decision I have made (first has to be opening up shop). For me, I always knew what I needed to do, but would just stand in my own way. I would go DAYS without posting, had ALL the grammar errors, and wasn’t gaining followers (hint* because I wasn’t telling my audience what I needed them to do.)
If creating content isn’t your strength, hire a content creator. Keep in mind, you are still going to have work to do, but hiring an expert gives me the confidence that I’m posting what my business needs to grow. And… bonus, Jana keeps me accountable, which leads to the growth I was looking for! All in all, Jana sets firm deadlines that leads me to a stress-free outsourcing experience, and a beautiful and consistent Instagram schedule.
